In 2008 APS Biz was released to expedite Secondhand Store Reporting

The APS Biz application is currently in use in the Cities of Bloomington, Apple Valley, Eden Prairie, Minneapolis, and Burnsville Minnesota. The APS Biz Data Capture application was developed by the City of Minneapolis and is provided at no cost to secondhand dealers who do not already have a point-of-sale system at their business.  This eliminates the need for these shops to purchase customized software for reporting their mandated transactions and allows for faster start-up with fewer  support issues.

The APS Biz Data Capture application provides functionality in the following areas:

  • Capturing detailed transaction data about customers and items in the local data capture database in the basic format described in the APS Interchange File Specification.
  • Providing electronic transfers of transaction data to the APS database when an internet connection is available.
  • Providing electronic updates to validation tables and system parameters on the local  databases from the APS database when an internet connection is available.
  • Providing the ability to enter transactions and query shop data on the local database when the internet connection is unavailable

Interstate 35W Bridge Collapse Critical Response – How was WORKFORCE DIRECTOR™ Used?

Pawnbroker Licensing - Regional Electronic Reporting

No more bankers boxes filled with old pawn slips. No more weekly rounds to the stores to collect and file the slips. And most importantly, no more needle-in-a-haystack searches through the paper files in an attempt to find the right slip when property is reported stolen. The City of Eau Claire put another detective back on the street while cutting costs, protecting its citizens, and improving its ability to solve property crimes. It did so by adopting an updated pawnbroker licensing ordinance requiring pawnbrokers to submit pawn transactions electronically.  READ MORE

APS Solves Property Crimes for Eau Claire, Police Department

The Automated Property System® has been in operation in Eau Claire since October 1, 2005.  After a full year of receiving pawnbroker transaction reports electronically we are starting to realize the benefits we expected to see when we first proposed the ordinance.  We have found that theft reports in the city are down 9% after the implementation of APS.  In addition, the pawn investigator spends less time collecting and sorting through pawn records, but is able to handle more property-related cases with a higher clearance rate. WorkForce Director Microsoft Customer Solution Case Study

The Minneapolis Police Department knew it was spending U.S.$5 million a year on overtime, but it didn’t have a way to carefully track, manage, and reduce the expense. Working with solution provider Sogeti, the police department created WORKFORCE DIRECTOR™, an integrated payroll, scheduling, tracking, and inventory solution based on the Microsoft® .NET Framework and making use of Windows Server System™ integrated server software. The solution has helped cut overtime expense by $1.4 million annually. By automating the payroll process, the solution has helped increase productivity by 20 percent. The solution is accessible over the Internet by police officers in their patrol cars, eliminating the need for those officers to spend time in the precinct house to implement personnel requests.
